VIII - Showing the handkerchief

Vanesa's godmother carries out the handkerchief marked with three small roses of blood from the test, and gives it to the godfather, who proudly takes it and shows it off.

"Here is the proof of the bride's honour", says the godfather. He asks those in attendance to speak out if they question the evidence of the "roses", or to hold their silence, and he vows that he will defend the bride's honour if anyone later challenges it. He waves the handkerchief over his head three times.

The handkerchief is then handed around between the parents of the bride and groom, and other respected male members of the community who are present. Each person waves the handkerchief above their head three times.
